A Bomber is an explosive enemy from the Kirby franchise. In the Super Smash Bros. series, they are featured as an item in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Prior to this, a Bomber appeared in the form of a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and later in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS as well; both trophies depict a Bomber about to walk off the edge of a Star Block. Their characteristics are similar to Bob-ombs from the Mario franchise.
As an item in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, similar to a Bob-omb, a Bomber spawns and then starts to walk around. The player can have their fighter pick up a Bomber and then press to hold it up, resulting in a large, heavy explosion in 1.5 seconds. It is possible for the player who held up the Bomber to take damage from it if they do not move away quickly enough. The closer one is to the center of the explosion, the more damage they take. If the Bomber is not utilized after a certain time, or if it falls off a surface (such as a platform), it detonates, just as in the Kirby series. Regardless of how the Bomber detonates, the time is briefly slowed before it explodes.
