Copy Abilities are powers that Kirby and other members of his species can gain in various ways during gameplay, most notably from inhaling an enemy. Since their introduction in Kirby's Adventure, Copy Abilities have been a staple characteristic of Kirby, let alone a staple of the Kirby franchise in general.

Kirby can make use of Copy Abilities in every Super Smash Bros. series installment, starting with Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64, by inhaling a fighter. The Copy Abilities in the Super Smash Bros. series are different than those within the Kirby franchise, especially because Kirby receives them from other fighters, most of whom are not from the Kirby franchise. Upon copying an opponent, Kirby gains a few of their moves, and some of their clothing items or other distinct features are also copied for Kirby's appearance. Once Kirby has gained a Copy Ability, the opponent is released back out onto the stage.

Kirby's moveset consists of some moves that would otherwise require a specific Copy Ability, such as Final Cutter, which requires Kirby to have the Cutter Copy Ability in order to use.

List of Copy Abilities

Below is a list of the Copy Abilities Kirby can gain in the Super Smash Bros. series. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, Kirby only copies the character's default standard special move.
