Darknuts are enemies from The Legend of Zelda series, in which they debut in the first and titular game, The Legend of Zelda.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Darknuts appear as boss enemies in Smash Run. They take their design from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. They act similar to Stalfos as they can walk and jump either forward or backward, except they are far more durable and far more powerful. They are armed with a sword for attacking and a shield for blocking and reflecting attacks. After receiving enough damage, it will lose some of its armor, but it is more agile and swift and can use its sword as a projectile. As boss enemies, Darknuts drop large stat boosts when defeated.

Darknuts lose their armor as they take hits, but they grow faster in the process. Their sword skills are quite accomplished. The most fundamental way of dealing with Darknuts is having good command of spin attacks and back slices.
