A Deku Nut is an item from The Legend of Zelda franchise, in which its first appearance is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. In the Super Smash Bros. series, Deku Nuts appear as an item in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
When a Deku Nut is thrown at an opponent, they get stunned for a few seconds, like in The Legend of Zelda games. The blast radius can affect several fighters at once. The effect is similar to when a fighter's shield is broken. It is possible for the item's user to also be stunned during the explosion of the Deku Nut. If players are in mid-air during the explosion, they get blasted away, similar to Bob-ombs. Deku Nuts also explode by themselves after a while, even if a fighter is holding one.

25: Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask |  After a short wait, or immediately if it gets thrown or hit, these little objects will explode in a burst of light. The flash will daze those too close, stunning them and leaving them open to attacks. It's easy to overlook these, so don't accidentally set one off on yourself! When Deku Nuts explode, they emit a light so bright that any fighter caught in the blast area - even ones with their shield up - will be stunned. If that's not enough, any foes in mid-air will be launched by the blast. Just try not to drop one by accident, or you'll definitely regret it!
