Metal is a character form in the Super Smash Bros. games. A fighter can temporarily gain a metal form if they use a Metal Box. While in their metal form, the fighter becomes heavier, making it harder for opponents to directly KO them, although the fighter falls faster while in midair. Getting hit causes the duration of the power-up to shorten. Whenever a character is in their metal form, their voices are removed. Some characters are the non-temporal metal counterpart of a fighter, such as Metal Mario in Super Smash Bros.'s 1P Game and Super Smash Bros. Melee's Adventure mode.
