Omnislash
- “Tsuki ga nakatta na. (Your luck has run out.)”
- – Cloud Strife, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U
Omnislash is Cloud's Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It originates from Final Fantasy VII, in which it is Cloud's level four Limit Break and the final one he learns.
When used, a text box like the ones that appear in Final Fantasy VII appears on screen reading "Omnislash." Cloud rushes forward and slashes an opponent up into the air where he uses his Buster Sword to unleash a multitude of strikes on the captured opponents before bringing them down to the ground, creating a large explosion that launches the trapped and any nearby opponents. Like with Marth's Critical Hit, Cloud rushes forward until he reaches an opponent, the edge of a platform, or a set distance. Unlike Critical Hit, Omnislash cannot be stopped mid-execution. If Cloud does not strike an opponent with the first slash, the Final Smash fails.
In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, there is an unlockable trophy of Omnislash that can be obtained by clearing All-Star Mode with Cloud. The trophy shows Cloud moments before striking Shulk using his Buster Sword, as well as a Final Fantasy VII-style dialogue box with the word "Omnislash." In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, this unlock criteria instead applies to the trophy of Cloud in his Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children outfit.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as of version 10.1.0, Cloud's even-numbered palettes (based on his appearance in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children) will use Omnislash Ver. 5 instead. On the Move List, Omnislash has been renamed to "Omnislash / Omnislash Ver. 5" to reflect this change. Omnislash Ver. 5 is merely an aesthetic change, as it deals the same total damage and knockback as the standard Omnislash. However, the attack does deal fewer hits overall, and has different hitbox placements for those very hits. Lastly, the final hit will always launch bystanders in the same direction as the fighter who was caught in the attack.
