Palkia is a Legendary Water/Dragon-type Pokémon who first appeared in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Versions. It has the ability to manipulate space, in contrast with Dialga's ability to manipulate time. Palkia's first appearance in the Super Smash Bros. series is Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

History[edit]

Super Smash Bros. Brawl[edit]

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Palkia is one of the three Legendary Pokémon to sometimes appear on the Spear Pillar stage, the other two being Dialga and Cresselia. When the stage has a purple tint, Palkia has a chance of appearing. Once Palkia appears, it has a multitude of abilities, including destroying sections of the stage, shooting a powerful beam either vertically or horizontally, decreasing the stage's gravity, tilting the camera so that it's askew, flipping it horizontally, and rotating it upside-down. After performing a couple of these actions, Palkia disappears from the stage.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U[edit]

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, Palkia can be spawned from a Poké Ball or Master Ball and attacks by using its signature move, Spacial Rend, which involves it slashing across the screen and flipping the camera, just like it does in Spear Pillar. This affects nothing other than the player's viewpoint of the stage. If a fighter comes into contact with Palkia, they take minor damage. Eventually, the screen tilts back to normal and Palkia disappears.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Palkia returns on both the Spear Pillar stage and as a Poké Ball Pokémon.

Dialga warps time, but Palkia has control over space. It lives between parallel dimensions and is known for its power, rumored to be able to warp space. It can use Spacial Rend to rip through the very space an enemy resides in, damaging the foe at the same time. It is Pearl's mascot.

Flag of Europe.png Stories of this Legendary Pokémon say that Palkia is a god that controls all of space. When it uses its Spacial Rend attack in Super Smash Bros., it causes the screen to flip upside down. If that wasn't confusing enough, it also flips the left and right controls!
