Bulborbs, also named Red Bulborbs, are common enemies in the the Pikmin franchise who inhabit the Distant Planet. Their appearance consists of the body: red ball with white dots, and yellow face with two eye stalks, and small weak legs. In Pikmin, they try to devour Olimar and his Pikmin if they get close, but can be defeated and killed, where their dead bodies can be used to produce new Pikmin in the Onion.

In the Super Smash Bros. series, Bulborbs first appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as the main hazard of the stage Distant Planet. One appears to the right of the stage, and it sometimes opens its mouth. During that time, all players that enter its mouth may be eaten and then dragged quickly offstage for a KO or self-destruct. Landing on its back is generally safe, but the Red Bulborb can leave the stage. Also on the background of the stage, another Red Bulborb appears alongside a Cloaking Burrow-nit and a flower. In the Final Destination form of Distant Planet of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, they are absent. In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, a Bulborb can be seen walking around in the background of the Garden of Hope stage, and it does not interact with the fighters.

During Captain Olimar's Final Smash, Olimar enters his spaceship to escape any stage he is currently on while Red Bulborbs constantly attack all players remaining on the stage racking up damage, before he returns again later.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Bulborb appears as an enemy in Smash Run. It is much smaller than its previous iteration, now being about the correct size compared to Olimar. It is considered a boss enemy, meaning it has more health than normal enemies, its attacks are stronger, and it rewards players with bigger stat upgrades. It may also be the requested enemy to be defeated during events. One of its attacks is stampeding. It can also chomping, attacking multiple times in the front. If the player is behind it, it can slam the player with its rear, although there is some setup time.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, there is an enhancable spirit of Bulborb, depicting its Pikmin 3 artwork. At level 99, it can be upgraded to Empress Bulblax, a boss in Pikmin 2.

61: Distant Planet & Indigenous Creatures These creatures from the Pikmin series have snail-like protruding eyes, huge mouths, and really bad tempers. They're known for snapping at fighters and trying to trample them underfoot. If you see one in a group of enemies, you should try to take it out fast–it'll shoot off and bounce around, hitting other enemies as it goes!
