Fox using Reflector in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Reflector is the down special move used by Fox, Falco, and Wolf throughout the Super Smash Bros. series. When used, an energy barrier appears that reflects projectiles, increasing the amount of damage they deal when they hit, and damages nearby opponents.

In Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee, Fox's and Falco's Reflectors can shatter if hit enough, leaving them dazed like if a normal shield is shattered; this effect is removed in later installments, instead simply damaging Fox and cancelling the move. Also in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Fox's Reflector simply knocks opponents back, while Falco's knocks them back at an angle. The Reflector also decreases Fox's falling momentum. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Falco instead kicks his Reflector at opponents instead of holding it in place; while it still deflects projectiles and damages opponents it no longer protects Falco from attacks. Wolf's Reflector in Super Smash Bros. Brawl has a different design, being a purple shield on both sides rather than a blue hexagon shape. Wolf's move does not give reflected projectiles as much power, but it instead increases their speed. In addition, while the move deflects projectiles, it does not keep him safe from physical attacks.

Fox and Falco both have unique custom variants for their Reflectors in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U. Fox's first variant is Big Reflector, which gives him a larger shield that does not increase the power of reflected attacks, nor does it damage enemies, instead pushing them away. His other variant is Amplifying Reflector, which increases the amount of damage reflected attacks deal but no longer affects opponents and does not slow his falling. Falco's first variant is Accele-Reflector, which only reflects while it is moving forward and moves faster than normal but increases the speed of reflected projectiles. The second is Reflector Void, which destroys projectiles but deals greater damage on its own.
