Skull Kids are minor recurring characters within The Legend of Zelda series. They are said to be what a child becomes after they are lost in the Lost Woods. One particular Skull Kid is a major antagonist in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, being possessed by the titular mask and calling the Moon to crash down on Termina in three days if not stopped.

Only the Skull Kid from the Nintendo 64 The Legend of Zelda games appears in the Super Smash Bros. series, in which he first appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In the game, Skull Kid has two stickers, depicting its appearances in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask respectively. The former increases the equipped fighter's leg-based attacks by 20, while the latter can only be equipped by Ganondorf and increases his darkness-based attacks by seven.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Skull Kid appears as an Assist Trophy. When summoned, he emits a dark aura that either reverses the stage or flips it upside down, both of which reverse the controls. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Skull Kid also appears into an enhancable spirit, which can be upgraded to Skull Kid & Majora's Mask at level 99.
