A group of Smash Coins in Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Smash Coins, also named coins, are a type of coin in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. They appear primarily in Coin Battle matches, in which fighters must deal damage to each other and collect the Smash Coins that fly out of their damaged opponents. If a fighter is KO'd, they lose Smash Coins. The amount of damage and knockback the move deals determines the amount and type of coins produced, which can be bronze, silver, gold, or any mixture thereof. In both Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Smash Bills may also be released from damaged fighters.

If a fighter gets KO'd on the side blast lines of a stage, some of their Smash Coins are dropped on the stage. If a fighter is KO'd on the top or bottom blast line, other fighters cannot steal their Smash Coins. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Smash Coins appear if a fighter is either Star KO'd or hits the screen.

Although Coin Battles, and thus Smash Coins, do not appear in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, the Gold (Classic) trophy is named "Smash Coins" in British English versions.

4: Items and Rewards Flag of USA.png Coin battles see which player can collect the most coins. Beating up your opponents will send coins flying, and then you must collect them! There are three types of coins: Gold (6 points), Silver (3 points), and Bronze (1 point). Deal more damage to your opponent to make the more valuable coins fly free.
Flag of Europe.png Coin matches are all about making your opponents drop coins by attacking them, then seeing who's collected the most at the end. The coins come in bronze, silver and gold varieties, worth 1, 3 and 6 points respectively. The harder you hit a foe, the better the coins they'll drop - so get smashing to cash in!
