Spin Attack
It has been requested that additional images be uploaded for this article. Remove this notice only after the additional image(s) have been added. Specifics: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate screenshot for Link, Young Link, and Toon Link using the move
Spin Attack is the up special move used by Link and his two incarnations, Young Link and Toon Link, in each of their playable appearances in the Super Smash Bros. series. The same move used by Link throughout The Legend of Zelda series.
When using Spin Attack, the character spins around rapidly with their sword to deal damage. When used in the air, the move also gives the character some vertical and horizontal distance. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, the move can be charged by holding down the special attack button when used on the ground to deal more damage. In addition, both Young Link's and Toon Link's versions of the move can draw in opponents to deal multiple hits; Young Link's move, however, has less range.
Variants[edit]
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, both Link and Toon Link receive unlockable variations of this move that can be customized at any point.
Link's first variant is the Shocking Spin, which gives the attack more power and deals electric damage, but it covers less distance than Spin Attack, and its ending lag is longer as well.
Link's second variant is Whirling Leap, which greatly improves Link's recovery by giving him more vertical height, and his horizontal mobility is increased drastically during the move's duration as well. However, the move does not deal any damage, nor can it be charged, so its only use is for recovery. When used on the ground, Link leaps up to perform the move.
Toon Link's first variant is Sliding Spin Attack, which gives the move a longer charging time, but it deals more damage, as well as allowing Toon Link to move across the ground, and giving the move more horizontal distance in the air. It offers less vertical distance as a drawback, however.
Toon Link's second variant is Flying Spin Attack, which causes the move to end with a vertical slash that sends both Toon Link and the opponent into the air, also increasing the move's vertical distance.
