Starmen are an alien race that serve Giygas in Mother and EarthBound. In EarthBound, Starmen teleported before being engaged in battle and attacked by firing beams. Starmen make their first Super Smash Bros. appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee, in which they appear as a trophy.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, a Starman appears as an Assist Trophy. Once summoned, the Starman proceeds to teleport around the stage. After it teleports, the Starman stops in its place, glows, and attacks using either PK Beam γ or PK Beam Ω. Getting hit by one of these attacks causes moderate damage and the player is momentarily stunned. The beams act like energy projectiles, so they can be absorbed or reflected. If the opponents cause enough damage to the Starman while it is still active, the Starman is defeated, displaying both the "SMAAAASH!" text and sound effect from EarthBound before disappearing prematurely.

Starmen also appear as Smash Run enemies solely in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, and retain their behavior as an Assist Trophy. If the fighter reflects one of the Starmen's beams back at it, it is instantly defeated, displaying the "SMAAAASH!" text as well.

Just one kooky subset of the diverse cast of enemies in EarthBound, these strange creatures are aliens in the employ of Giygas. Variations of the Starman race include Starman, Starman Jr., Starman Deluxe, and Starman Super. They all use PSI powers, but their strength differs depending on the level on which they're found.

Flag of Europe.png Starmen, the evil Giygas's henchman in the Mother series, are renowned alien space assassins. Summon one in this game, and it'll teleport about, firing off attacks like PK Beam γ, which targets a foe, and PK Beam Ω, which fires across the whole stage in up to four directions. Starmen can be taken out, but...not easily.
