Whispy Woods is a tree enemy who originates from the Kirby franchise. He is featured in every Super Smash Bros. game as an obstacle on either one or two Kirby-themed stages.
History[edit]
Super Smash Bros.[edit]
In Super Smash Bros., Whispy Woods appears in the Dream Land stage. He occasionally blows wind in a certain direction, sometimes sending fighters off the stage.
Super Smash Bros. Melee[edit]
In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Whispy Woods returns in the background of the Dream Land, and also appears in the Green Greens stage. Like in Super Smash Bros., Whispy Woods attempts to blow fighters off the stage. The game introduces a unique ability for Whispy Woods in which he shakes himself violently and flings apples at characters. There is an obtainable trophy of Whispy Woods.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl[edit]
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Whispy Woods returns in the background of the Green Greens stage, serving the same purpose as in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U[edit]
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, Whispy Woods returns on the Dream Land (64) DLC stage, having the same behavior as in Super Smash Bros.. In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, there is an obtainable trophy of Whispy Woods.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Whispy Woods reappears in both the Dream Land and Green Greens stages, acting as he did in previous Super Smash Bros. titles. He also appears as a spirit.

32: The Beginning of Kirby |  Whispy Woods lives deep in the forest, waiting patiently for Kirby to stop by so he can share his delicious apples with the pink hero... That's not true at all, actually. Instead, he drops apples on Kirby, trying to cause him injury. He may look friendly, but remember what they say: don't judge a tree by its bark. In the heart of a beautiful green forest, Whispy Woods is waiting to give Kirby some juicy red apples. Isn't that nice? Well...not really, since he drops them on Kirby's head like bombs. If that wasn't bad enough, he'll also suck up the pink puffball and blast him with air. Note to self: be more wary of trees with faces.
